Yiaourti Me Meli (Yogurt with Honey)

Strained, thick greek yogurt topped with walnuts and honey.

“Yogurt with Honey”, a quick-fix Greek dessert that consists of nothing more than Greek yogurt, honey, and walnuts.

I use the term quick-fix loosely, because in my kitchen, we’re going to want to strain the Greek yogurt for at least 24 hours and Greek yogurt is literally another way of saying “strained yogurt” so yeah, we’re straining strained yogurt until it is pretty much protein free. This dessert is a bodybuilder’s worst nightmare. (´・ω・`)

This creates “yogurt cheese”; yogurt with a cream cheese-like consistency. I got the idea after seeing videos of this dessert being served in Greek restaurants and noticed how the yogurt was so thick it could hold its shape on a plate. It was beautiful… So it’s optional, but that’s the way I do it. And you may not even have to do it if your Greek yogurt is already super-thick in the container.

On a side note, why are Americans so obsessed with protein? Like if you don’t have protein with your meal everybody goes apeshit and thinks you’re crazy. Know what I think? Fuck protein, fuck low-fat dairy, fuck extra-lean meats, and fuck you~!!! I like fattttt~~~ \(^ω^\)

Ingredients per serving
1/2 – 3/4 cup Greek yogurt (a 500g container should yield 3-4 servings)
1 tbsp (15g) chopped walnuts
2 tbsp honey

Steps
1. Strain Greek yogurt with a cheesecloth for at least 24 hours, or until all the whey protein has been drained.
2. Portion thick yogurt out into appropriate serving vessels, top with your chopped walnuts, drizzle generously with honey, and serve!

Notes:
Easy! Also, one tip; do not go light with the honey. It’s supposed to be sickly sweet. Reduce the yogurt instead if you must! ⊂(◉‿◉)つ
